This dog doesn't judge me.

The following photo is brought to you by the power of duck jerky.
True story, I was trying to come up with a topic to blog about and somehow I ended up shoving one of my dogs in a Corona Light box. If you're all wondering what is actually wrong with me, I'm still waiting on a good way to answer that one.

Did I actually come up with a post from this impromptu photo-op? Well, no, not really. Just don't tell Ella that, she'd really be crushed. Except I kind of did come up with something once she promptly came and curled up on my lap like I didn't just make her stand in a cardboard box like a homeless ASPCA animal.

This dog doesn't judge me.

No judgements when I hit the bottle a little too hard and pass out before brushing my teeth. She just curls on up a little further down the bed than normal and calls it a night.

No judgements when my closet is piled high in dirty clothes and I leave the house wearing leggings and a t-shirt because they were the last clean articles of clothing suitable for work. AKA not a dress I wore back in my clubbing days. Hell, she even embraces my sloppy closet and goes on in for the snuggle with my worn clothes.
I just feel this could make for a very awkward and horribly uncomfortable work day.
Even if it is one of the only things proudly hanging clean in my closet currently.

Shoot, my dogs don't even care that yesterday I managed to dump an entire glass of Chardonnay on my kitchen floor and followed that up with many screamed profanities. They even tried to help me clean up the mess.*

When I sing to them they don't even seem to take notice to my completely botching all of the lyrics and my horrible angelic singing voice. Just the other day I was jamming out to the old classic 'Blinded By the Light' and while I cannot actually publish my idea of what the lyrics are to that song, mostly because of the Google searches that would lead to this post, those dogs just jammed it out next to me.

And lastly, they don't even judge me when I start getting impatient because the water on the stove refuses to boil already and then I realize I never actually turned the burner on. What can I say? I'm just a natural, every day genius.

*No dogs were intoxicated in the making of this post.

  1. The best part about this post isn't the dog in the Corona box, even though, yes that is a great thing. It is, in fact, how smoking hot my friend is in that dress. You should have worn it today. Fail on your part. Think about standing in line at Chipotle getting a burrito in that number.

  2. sometimes it feels like the dogs are the only ones i should be around when i drink. they love us no matter what - that's for damn sure.

  4. But animals in boxes make for great photos, so naturally it makes sense to take advantage of this photo opportunity. Fo sho.

  5. Louie LOVES when I sing to him. Sometimes, when no one is around, we duet. He has a lovely voice, he's just very shy.

  6. Oh God - you said ASPCA!!! And now all I can think about is that awful, sad, terrible commercial about abused animals done to a Willie Nelson song. Have you seen that?

  7. That's one of the absolute best things about pups....they love you unconditionally. When my dog curls up in my lap and looks up at me...I melt.

  8. A Maltese in a Corona box? Hell yeah! :) Everyone should have a Maltese in their life. Even my little dog-averse boyfriend has fallen madly in love with my rascally little Sprout.

  10. She's such a trooper and she's basically the cutest dog, ever - except for Sebby.

  11. Tilly never judges mama either. Sometimes she does give me the "what the hell are you really doing that" look, but never tries to throw things in my face. God bless those dogs!

  12. What kind of doggy is she because she is ADORABLE. Gah, I wish I didn't live in an apartment because I want a dog so bad. You are NOT helping.

  13. Haha this post makes me oh so happy. I have two littles myself and I was singing Livin on a Prayer to them last night. They loved it, duh. Happy Weekend pretty lady!

  14. You are lucky, lady. Floyd gives me the judging side eye, eye raise and eye roll just about every day. Ella clearly has way better manners than my little man.

  15. Even if the dog is in a beer box, she is still adorable and cute. Is she a maltese? I may have asked you that before and if so, sorry. I haven't had enough coffee yet.

  16. Haha no dogs were intoxicated... you crack me up! I love my dogs for many of these very reasons! And that photo of you is gorgeous! Ella is too :)

  17. Ella is obviously a team player. She looks like she could be the May centerfold in a calendar- Maybe attempt strapping a sombrero on her for Cinco de Mayo ?

  18. Ella is SOOOOO Cute! Beyond cute. So is the corona. One of my faves in all the land actually. :) You look HOT to trot in that dress!

  19. Holly is such a judger. I sing? She rolls her eyes and walks away. I cook? She may or may not refuse my shit like it's, well, shit. And totally judges me when I drink. And by judges I mean she insists on waking up at 6:30 a.m. the next morning, despite my hangover, to walk around the yard for 20 minutes looking for the perfect piss spot.
"Oh hey neighbors, don't mind me, just wearing nothing but my underwear and socks and the wine I spilled on my boob last night. Potluck sometime?"

I need an Ella in my life.

  20. Your hair is very sassy in this! And the dog in the box..awesome! I love how dogs don't judge! My dog never judges me when I eat 2 ice cream cones in a row..love it!

  21. I make my dogs pose for pictures all the time too. I think to think it's what the normal people do, actually.

  23. Dogs really are the best of friends. Even when you make a fool out of yourself, they still stick around.

  24. You make me want to have a dog... especially a non judgmental pup!

  25. Aw I love the picture of your puppy in the Corona box! Dogs are great at not judging their owners, thank goodness. & They are also great secret keepers :D

  28. Your pup is awfully cute! I love how non-judgemental dogs always are. Mine is excited to see me no matter what kind of mood I'm in.

BTW, I'm a new follower...I found your blog earlier this week, and I'm really enjoying it.

  29. Oh Ella aren't you a sassy little model? Lily never judges me but that's also because she runs my house. Kennel? Ya right. Throwing her food around the room because she can? Sure Mom will pick it up. Drag every toy known to man and place it on the couch so no one can sit there? Bingo! My life would have very little entertainment without my dog and I'm okay with that.

  30. That is the cutest dog I have ever seen. My cat doesn't judge me either ;-)

  32. Cutest picture ever. Whenever everything and everyone else (including myself) sucks, my dogs don't. And I love them for it.

  33. I love you. Your posts always make me smile. And your dog - I wantttttt. So cute. I'm sure I've said that about fifty times, but it's not less true. You should put puppy in an empty wine box next. It can be a whole series. Art museum material, I'm telling you! <3

  34. haha. Wow just when I think I can't laugh at any more of your posts. LOL. A dog in a corona box, I mean it's just too much. You go, Whit.

  36. Hahaha this post made my day! It must be nice to have such a non-judgmental dog. Our 6-month old Lab has no cares to give about dishing out a side-eye anytime I bust a move. I always worry that if I'm on some version of the Truman show the audience must think I'm insane for the number of times I scream "DON'T YOU JUDGE ME, CHARLIE!" on a regular basis. What can I say- he learned from the best.

  37. Haha she looks like she is 100% comfortable in that box too like she was perfectly content to be there.

  38. I have a hunch that we share the same idea on the lyrics to 'Blinded by the Light'. And your dogs are pretty awesome. :)

  39. I don't have a dog but I do have three kids (totally the sad as having a dog, by the way, only *slightly* more high maintenance deepening on the breed of dog. Anyhow, they're really great on the not judging thing. But, damn, I cannot get a single one of hm o pose for me in a corona box. Assholes.

P.S. Been reading your blog for awhile and finally delurking. Love it!
