Hey there, lovers. See what I did there?
Valentine's day is the day of love, as far as Hallmark is concerned. Me? Well, I'm always looking for a good excuse to celebrate so, just like St. Pats and Cinco de Drinko, I tend to recognize this holiday for celebration purposes.
I don't really celebrate it for the gifts or the flowers or the love, though if I got some cheese fries and maybe a filet mignon (pronounced: fill-ett mig-non) I'd probably be a bigger fan of the day. Simply put, I celebrate to celebrate.
Confused yet? It's ok, me too.
I probably shouldn't really be a fan of this day, seeing as I was always the kid in class whose Valentine bag never had quite as many paper cards and candies as everyone else. My mom always told me it was because I decorated my bag the prettiest, which made all of the other little girls jealous, but I think we all know it was probably because the other little girls just plain didn't like me.
Perhaps due to my 2nd grade year, the year I refused to wear anything but skirts and dresses.
That was pretty obnoxious of me.
My 5th grade year though, oh man that was the year I thought I had it made. My boyfriend at the time gave me the gift of song. Yes, you read that correctly. The gift of song. Via e-card, to boot.
Forget cheese fries and filet mignon, I lost my 5th grade shit over this e-card.
Drink in that romance, people. Pure 5th grade romance. I was a smitten kitten.
Until he decided he wanted to put his arm around Laura at the 5th grade camping trip instead of me. I've never quite heard that song the same since.
This year? Well, this year I am celebrating with my Man Friend. We're doing the gross, ew, couple thing that I don't really like to talk about. I'm really hoping for cheese fries and filet mignon though. And a fresh box of wine.
That's my kind of romance. Yes, it is.
Oh, also... something kind of, really, pretty cool is going on. Cool enough to rock your world harder than a Temptations song in 5th grade.
The chance to win a $1,500 Visa giftcard!

this is absolutely ridiculous and wonderful. What would I do with the $$? Use it to buy the plane ticket I need in order to move in July!
ReplyDeleteI celebrated tonight with my beardy. I work late tomorrow. There was lots of sangria. Lots and lots!! I hope you get your boxed wine and cheese fries!
ReplyDeleteI would totally buy myself new clothes and probably my daughter as well
ReplyDeleteNow I want some cheese fries!!!! Meh...I am not a fan of Valentines day even tho I am married, {single or in a relationship}- I think its a money making holiday but now a days most holidays are! lol
Putting his arm around Laura? THE NERVE! Haha.
ReplyDeleteBox wine sounds like an awesome way to celebrate. :)
Also, I would use the $1,500 to help pay off my car! Goodbye payments!
DeleteValentine's Day is stupid. I'd buy a new big girl camera, Frye boots, toys for my dogs, everything on my Amazon and Sephora wish lists, and new shoes for MFD with $1500.
ReplyDeleteI'm using it to fly to Orlando and play wif you at Epcot.. and then we will both fly to Vegas and party til we die. Luzz you more than life itself.
ReplyDelete$1,500?? Oh my goodness, it would help finance my hopeful 6 month music course in England starting in October!
ReplyDeleteWhat would I do with $1500? That question is a mighty tough one! Pretty sure the first thing I'd do would be pay off my car, which only has like $100 left on it (yay!). With the rest, I'd buy tickets to New Orleans for me and my boyfriend. I went to college there and miss it so dearly and wish I could afford to visit several times a year. Thanks for the chance!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely would use the money towards stuff for my little guy and his soon to be born little sister. $1500 would make a significant dent in everything you could possibly need for a baby!
ReplyDeleteI would use the money to put wood floors in my condo. The carpet is gross - that old standard stuff that was put in when it was built (in 2004) - aka cheap crap. I have been wanting to put wood floors in for a while and now it's time to save up - or win this prize! ;)
ReplyDeleteSHOES!!
ReplyDeleteBuy my dream lens so I can finally be a serious photographer :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so generous of you! I have a few friends' weddings and bachelorette parties this year. Definately could use the gift card to put towards those expenses! (bachey trips, bridesmaid dresses, shower gifts, etc--you know weddings are expensive!) :) Happy V-day to you!
ReplyDeleteI used to hate Valentine's day until my husband proposed on Valentine's day! He knew I would be completely surprised as we're not fans of the typical cliche lol Heck, I don't know what I'd do with the gift card but I'd sure as hell celebrate with a margarita first! :)
ReplyDeleteI would seriously buy a new pair of shoes, the hubby a fishing rod, and maybe myself a tan. hehe And then pay my student loan off like an "adult" would...or maybe I'll just buy another pair of shoes
ReplyDeleteOnly thing better than cheese fries and filet mignon is GARLIC cheese fries and filet mignon. Actually, I would just settle for a cheesesteak...and a bottle (or two) of almond champagne.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good Vday dinner to me. I had some fried mac & cheese last night. Holy ess was it good. Def recommend that...get him to splurge a little...lol jk :P
ReplyDeleteWow! That would be amazing to win! I'd probably put it towards new furniture.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I have a 5th grade memory of that song too!! There was a radio contest to sing the first verse of a song in order for the station to play that song... my best friend and I called in and sang My Girl! Hahaha. Obv we were awesome.
ReplyDeleteIf I won I'd put it towards those darn student loans. Amazing giveaway!!
HAHAHAHAHA I was that girl who only wore skirts and dresses too. and my best friend "broke up" with me because she wore shorts and I wore skirts. Real time.
ReplyDeleteThis giveaway is out of control! But of course I'm doing it... happy veedayyyyyyy!

I would spend a little of the money on ME, a little on my husband, and the rest on a vacation.
ReplyDeleteUmmm I just want to say that I also refused to wear anything but skirts/dresses in 2nd grade. When our spelling word was "pants" (way to be challenging, teacher) a little bia in my class used the prompt "Sara never wears these" during our spelling test game.

ReplyDeleteI would put the money towards my nursery and baby gear - for our upcoming baby boy due in May! :)
ReplyDeleteWith that money I would put half of it in savings and the other half I would split in half again. Half of that portion to put the pot of money for us to get a new driveway (home ownership responsibility) and the other half would go towards the pot of money we have saved for an anniversary vacation/trip.
ReplyDeleteWith an extra $1,500 I'd put $1,000 in my son's college fund and use the other $500 for monthly bills.
